Guided Tour of an Insta-Shop

Modified on Fri, 17 Nov, 2023 at 7:27 AM

Welcome to Presto Insta-Shops!  This is a guided tour through the Insta-Shopping process, specially designed for shoppers.  If you've never done a Presto Insta-Shop before (or aren't sure if you have), please review this guide so you'll understand the process.  Presto is NOT like SASSIE or other mystery shopping systems you may have used, so please make sure you know how to successfullyu complete your Insta-Shop.

Step 1: Find a shop

To find an Insta-Shop, go to http://prestomap.com.  If it's your first time here, you'll be asked to share your location.  Click Allow (or Yes or whatever your browser says), and you'll see a map centered around your current location, with pins on it for both SASSIE shops and Presto Insta-Shops.

Warning, warning, danger Will Robinson!  If you're looking at the Presto map from home and thinking, "Cool, I'll choose a bunch of shops and do them later!", be careful -- many Insta-Shops require you to fill out the survey at or near the shop location, and ALL Insta-Shops have a time limit -- usually shorter than you're used for SASSIE shops.  While you CAN sometimes) claim a shop from your computer at home and then complete it later on a mobile device, it can get confusing.  Use your computer to browse for shops if you like, but we recommend that you claim (self-assign) the shop on the same device that you plan to fill it out.

Click the BLUE map pins to learn more about each Insta-Shop (the orange pins are SASSIE shops -- we're not dealing with them here).

  • You will have 3 minutes to preview the survey, see the shop guidelines, and see how much time you'll have to complete the shop. It will be visible in your Incomplete shop log until you claim it or those 3 mins expire.

Heads up, shoppers!  If a Presto Insta-Shop requires a purchase or other expenditure, that amount is included in the shop fee.  There is NO additional reimbursement with Presto Insta-Shops.For more information, see our knowledge base topic on finding shops with the Presto map.

Step 2: Claim your shop

All Presto Insta-Shops are self-assigned -- to assign yourself the shop, just click the Claim button.  You must check the checkboxes indicating that you've read the shop guidelines and (if the shop calls for it) that you will complete the shop on an Android or iOS mobile device.  You may also be required to verify your location.

Warning, danger, etc.: Insta-Shops have time limits, not due dates!  As soon as you claim the shop, the timer starts running.  DON'T claim a shop unless you're sure you can get to the shop location, complete the shop and submit the survey within the time limit.

Step 3: Do the shop and submit the survey

Now do the shop and fill out the survey.  This is the easy part!  Insta-Shop surveys are short, and they use your mobile device's capabilities to make things easier, such as:

  • Timestamp questions that let you record times without having to check your watch
  • Date picker to enter dates easily
  • Photo upload questions that use your mobile device's camera -- right in the survey!

You really shouldn't ever have to take notes on an Insta-Shop.  Just read the guidelines and review the survey so you'll know what to look for, then fill out the survey (inconspicuously, of course) at or near the shop location.  When you're done with the survey, click  I'm done to submit your survey -- and you can go right back to the map to pick up more Insta-Shops!

Step 4: See your completed Insta-Shops!

Once you've submitted an Insta-Shop, you can see your completed shops in your Shop Log.  Go back to the Presto map (http://prestomap.com) and click on the menu icon in the upper left hand corner of  the screen:

Then click My Completed Shops to see your list of completed Insta-Shops and their status (approved, paid, etc.):
